Welcome to Michelle’s Pralines! Bon Appetit!
Michelle’s Pralines were inspired by the owner's great-uncle, “Uncle Lloyd”, who was a cook for many years at historic City Cafe in Plaquemine, Louisiana. Among many other talents, Uncle Lloyd was an exceptional baker and a confection connoisseur. One of his favorite confections to make was pralines, which is also known as pecan (pronounced pah-cone) candy in our family. He made a batch or two sparingly, and it was a treat to grab a few pieces to enjoy throughout the week, if they lasted that long! Uncle Lloyd’s pah-cone candy was made with love for the people he loved and cherished.
As Uncle Lloyd grew older, he was unable to cook for us as he had done for so many years. For a few years, Taniesha Michelle became one of Uncle Lloyd’s caregivers and would occasionally have him in the kitchen with her as she “attempted” to whip up a batch of his candy to no avail. After spending many days in the kitchen with Uncle Lloyd, and having him taste her rendition of his candy, she finally received his seal of approval. Uncle Lloyd has gone home since he had some of Michelle’s pah-cone candy. Yet, she knows that he would be proud that she is carrying on his legacy and cooking with love!
